Facilities

Here is a brief overview of our facilities and the technologies available to our lab members and students.

Sketch Recognition Lab

Our lab space currently houses five Ph.D. students and a Masters student. The lab is located in room 911 of the Richardson Building on the east side of the campus here at Texas A&M. The lab contains PCs (Dell XPS) and Macs for each member of the lab. Each computer uses a 21" Cintiq pen-display monitor. Other high-tech devices, such as Tablets, haptics gloves, 3-D motion trackers, SMARTBoard, etc. are also housed in the lab (see list below). The lab also contains nonresearch-related ammenities such as a refrigerator, microwave, and a shared print/music server.

Sketch Recognition Classroom

In addition to the lab, we also have a classroom dedicated to sketch recognition and haptics-based classes. The classroom has card-controlled access for students enrolled in such classes. The classroom is equipped with eight computers (7 Dell Dimension PCs and 1 Mac) as well as 10 Gateway Tablet PCs. Students are allowed to use Tablets not only in class, but may also check them out the the Computer Support Group Helpdesk.
